Serifs are Making a Comeback

I am definitely a fan of the serif, and they are back to adding warmth, refinement, and style in digital design. After all, they've been good enough for Vogue and Tiffany & Co., projecting sophistication an luxury. They're classic. Timeless.
What’s the difference between serif and sans serif typefaces? Serif fonts have little foot-like accents called serifs. The origin of serif fonts dates back centuries – well before the world-changing printing press was introduced. Back in the day, stonemasons carved Latin letters into stone. Before the carving process began, letters were mapped out on the stone using a paintbrush. The carving would start just outside of the painted letters,
Font selection is just one piece of the intricate web design puzzle, and it’s essential to get it right. I personally like to pair a bold, expressive serif font for headings with a clear readable sans-serif for body text, creating a balanced design. Some of the more common serif fonts are Times New Roman, Garamond, Georgia, Playfair Display, Palantino, and one of my old favorites, Caslon.
Ultimately, the decision to use serif fonts hinges on the project’s objectives and desired tone.
